World Recycling Day in Gliwice - March 18, 2026

World Recycling Day in Gliwice

Under the motto "Don't Think Waste - Think Opportunity!", we celebrated this year?s Global Recycling Day. This day is a perfect occasion to introduce young people to the exciting and innovative world of non-ferrous metal recycling and to highlight the importance of responsible resource management.

On March 18, students visited the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals in Gliwice, one of Poland’s leading research centers specializing in non-ferrous metal technologies. They were welcomed by Director Barbara Juszczyk and Kazimierz Poznański, President of IGMNiR.

As part of the program, Aleksander Baj from Wydawnictwo Element delivered a presentation entitled “How to Make the Most of Our Natural Resources?”, which was particularly relevant on a day dedicated to the Seventh Resource.

The tour of the institute’s laboratories proved to be the highlight of the day. Students had the chance to see modern metal science in action, understand how research labs operate, and learn why non-ferrous metal recycling is one of the most innovative industries of the 21st century.

Special thanks go to the staff of the Institute in Gliwice for their professional guidance, valuable insights, and the time they dedicated to the young participants. We also thank Director Barbara Juszczyk for the warm welcome and Aleksander Baj and Wydawnictwo Element for their engaging presentation.
