On July 9, 2025, at the invitation of the Chamber of Non-Ferrous Metals and Recycling (IGMNiR) and Bogusław Ochab, Chairman of the Chamber Council and President of the Management Board of ZGH Bolesław S.A., ZGH Bolesław S.A. had the honor of hosting James Watson, Director General of Eurometaux (the European Association of Metals), Kamila Słupek, Director of Sustainability at Eurometaux, as well as Marcin Kacperski - Member of the Eurometaux Board and delegate of KGHM Polska Miedź, Adina Georgescu - Manager of the Energy and Climate Change Committee at Eurometaux, and Arkadiusz Mańka - President of the Management Board of HCM Miasteczko Śląskie.
The visit began with an introduction to the exhibition “The Mine of Knowledge about Zinc – ZGH Bolesław S.A.”, followed by a tour of the modern zinc production plant, where innovative technological and eco-friendly solutions have been implemented. Special attention was paid to advanced management systems as well as solutions aimed at energy efficiency and environmental protection.
One of the key highlights of the program was a presentation by Henryk Kaliś from the Forum of Electricity and Gas Consumers (FOEEiG), who outlined current efforts to reduce electricity and gas costs for energy-intensive industries. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between industry and trade organizations in shaping policies that promote competitiveness and sustainable development of the European industrial sector.
Another important part of the program was a presentation by Marek Drosik on modern process technologies used at ZGH Bolesław S.A., which attracted significant interest from the guests.
Following this, the visitors were guided through the smelting plant by Bogdan Pieczkonka, Deputy Director of the Smelter, who provided a detailed overview of the production processes and technological solutions implemented at the facility.
The guests also took part in a strategic discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities related to European energy policy, in line with Eurometaux’s mission to foster a more sustainable and efficient metals sector.
Special thanks were extended to James Watson and Kamila Słupek for their commitment and leadership, to Marcin Kacperski, Adina Georgescu, and Arkadiusz Mańka for their active participation in the discussions, to Henryk Kaliś for his expert presentation, to Marek Drosik for his technological insights, and to Bogdan Pieczkonka for professionally guiding the guests through the smelting plant.
The meeting highlighted the crucial role of industry cooperation in building an innovative, resource-efficient, and sustainable metals industry in Europe.
