In Memory of Emil Głuszczyk, may he rest in peace

It is with deep regret that we announce that on December 12, 2023, at the age of 84, Emil Głuszczyk, a long-time collaborator of the Chamber of Commerce for Non-ferrous Metals and Recycling, passed away - an undisputed authority in the field of the non-ferrous metals industry.

He was born on February 16, 1939 in the small town of Świlcza near Rzeszów. In 1956, he graduated from the Male Secondary School in Rzeszów, one of the oldest in Poland. In 1962 he graduated from the Higher School of Economics in Katowice.

From the beginning of his professional career, he was associated with the non-ferrous metals industry. His professional life flourished for over four decades, starting in 1962, when, as a scholarship holder of the "Lubin" mine, by decision of the director of ZGHMN in Katowice, he began an internship at the Industry Center for the Organization and Standardization of Working Time - a branch of the Mining and Metallurgy Association of Non-Ferrous Metals in Katowice.


In 1965, he became assistant director of the Union, and in 1970 he was promoted to Head of the Production Planning Department. The next step in his career was his appointment in 1982 as the director of the Non-Ferrous Metal Scrap Processing Company "Wtórmet" in Bytom-Radzionków. He held this position until his retirement in 1997. However, he still remained professionally active, working at the Chamber of Commerce for Non-Ferrous Metals. He was not only an outstanding specialist, but also a man with enormous horizons and a constant desire for development. His commitment, professionalism and reliability were outstanding the foundation of his long career. He was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit, the Golden Badge for Merit in the Development of the Katowice Voivodeship and the Golden Cross of Merit.

Moreover, Emil Głuszczyk was an active member of the professional community, participating in the work of the Silesian Association of Metal Industry Employers, serving on the management board of the Polish Metal Science Society and gaining recognition for coordinating system for optimizing the production of non-ferrous metals.

His legacy, both as an outstanding professional and a committed community activist, will remain with us forever. forever. He was a well-known, highly cultured man, a respected and cordial friend, our unforgettable friend.
