A historic day for Poland and the non-ferrous metals industry

Kamila Słupek

Today in Lisbon, Kamila Słupek officially begins her new mission as Secretary General of the Lisbon Groups: the International Copper Study Group (ICSG), the International Lead and Zinc Study Group (ILZSG) and the International Nickel Study Group (INSG).

This appointment is historic — for the first time in the more than 70-year history of the Lisbon Groups, the position is held by a representative of Poland and Central Europe. It marks an important milestone for Polish science, public administration and the non-ferrous metals industry, a key sector for industrial and energy transition.

Kamila Słupek is a recognised expert with nearly 20 years of experience in the non-ferrous metals sector. She previously served as Senior Manager of the Sustainability Committee at European Metals (formerly Eurometaux) and has been actively involved in EU industrial policy, innovation and raw materials security. From 2024 to 2025, she was a Member of the Scientific Council of the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals.

The Lisbon Groups bring together countries responsible for 85–95% of global non-ferrous metals production, making them one of the most influential international cooperation platforms in this field.

The start of Kamila Słupek’s mandate in Lisbon represents a symbolic and tangible success for Poland, highlighting the country’s growing role in global decision-making structures.
